Earth's End

We don't mean the world's going to end (Well, it will end, but not yet.). We are listing off all the details about Climate change, Plastic polution, and more!

Global Warming

(Written by Charlotte Mason)

This is what the fuss is all about. Is Climate change actually happening? Or is it some joke? Despite all the defence that it's fake, 97% of scientists agree that it is destroying the Earth. Here are the three topics on Global warming.

What Is Global Warming?

Global Warming is caused by the Greenhouse Effect, Wich is made up of Greenhouse gases, caused by burning fossil fules. Greenhouse gases include Water vapor, Carbon dioxide, Methane, Nitrous oxide, and Chlorofluorocarbons. They act as a bit of a gas blanket, not letting the sun's heat escape.

What are the Consequences?

The consequences of Climate change are dangerous and disasterous. They go from More droughts and heat waves to stronger and more intence hurricaines, from Artic becoming ice-free to sea levels rising 1-4 feet by 2100. Temperatures will not stop rising unless we do something.

How Do We Stop This?

Stoping Global Warming is simple, but unfortunately very few people want to help. Simply by turning off your lights at night can make a big difference. Make sure that your unused computers are completely off too. just because it’s on sleep mode doesn't mean it’s not using energy. For free and renewable power, invest in solar panels and windmills. Buy an electric car (Using clean energy, of course!), or, better yet, use a bike! A lot of electricity is made from our fossil fuels, so use as little as possible!

Eating less meat helps too, because your turkey dinner took a lot of energy to process it (Avoiding processed foods completely helps). Try having at least one vegetarian meal a day, and you might actually save the world a little!

Plastic pollution

(Written by Isabella Pettiniccio)

Fun fact in 2050 there will be more plastic then fish in the sea. For more info keep reading.

Plastic pollution is my profession. I spend a lot of time reserching it so I know a lot on the subject .

Ask yourself this question: How much plastic is dumped in the ocean? Can you guess? Scientists know that every year about 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans. That is about 4 elephants worth of plastic! In 2025, the annual input is estimated to be about twice that. Every minute, one garbage truck of plastic is being dumped into our oceans. Studies say that in 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in  the sea, and there are a lot of fish!

What is wrong with plastic? Most people think that single use plastics are very helpful  to humans be not to animals. Animals can not tell the difference between plastic and food. For example blue whales when they eat they open their mouth close to the surface and open their

large mouth close to schools of fish and suck it all in. If you are thinking to yourself ‘‘What does that half to do with anything’’  You are wrong this is very much related. If you were paying attention you would have learned that they are close to the surface and plastic floats and when whals suke it all in they eat the plastic too.
